Why do students experience so much academic pain? Part 1
Written by Isaac Akintaro on Feb. 13th 2019
It’s the day before the deadline of your assignment. You have no idea how to solve it and no belief you would be able to finish in time. The pain of regret hits you. You vow never to go through this ever again. That’s what you said last time...and the time before that.

Studying at University can be a painful experience, one that destroys your self confidence and perceptions of yourself.

We all desire to control our situations and circumstances. When this doesn’t happen we feel pain. When you are not able to understand a subject you feel pain, when you bomb that exam you feel pain. When you are too slow compared to others you feel pain.

The key to being in control is to understand content, understand what is needed to be done for the assignments and then have the discipline to do it.
A ton of students put in extra hours to try and understand the content on a daily basis. Instead of adding hours and blocking the other parts of our lives, could we think of an alternative?
Lectures. That is the place to start. If our goal is to understand content we must examine what typical students do and see if it meets our goal.

Typical students:
>>Listen to lecturer zone in and out due to lack of interest
>>Take notes, sometimes at the expense of understanding the content
>>No review system so forgets
>>Has to learn everything from scratch during extra hour sessions during the week or will need to learn content when the next deadline or exam requires that information.

As you can see the typical student is having to exert self-discipline to listen to the lecture, on top of this they are writing the notes and understand simultaneously; No wonder it is had to remember a thing from lectures and to understand what is going on. Meanwhile AKS Students do things differently. There are a lot of nitty gritty little detailed points missing but here a birds eye overview for the process AKS undergo.

AKS Students:
>>Generate interest in lecture with fun videos about that topic area
>>Prepare mindset for absolute focus before coming to Lectures
>>Develop First Principles Quiz Questions in an app whilst in the Lecture
>>Quiz themselves in idle times during the e.g. waiting in the que etc
As a result they are understand the content, are tested along the way without needing a dedicated time to revise through.

Understanding solves most of our pain but what about these….

The feeling of pain when you don’t have it together and are stressed all over the place. Commitments and deadlines are pulling you all over the place.
The feeling of frustration when weeks of hard work is swept away by one mistake. When a whole semester’s work is gone by one bad module.

You feel pain when you don’t see a way through.
You feel pain when you study and study but are not able to apply your knowledge to the exam.
You feel robbed when weeks of exam preparation does not pay off.
You feel pain in those moments when you think you are not smart enough or good enough. When you think you are a fraud or an imposter.

There are solutions out there to all these issues. Are you going to experience these pains again? Are you going to keep finding solutions on your own? Why not get a helping hand?
Watch and read the free case study  to do so.
