You feel pain when you can’t control yourself...distraction after distraction...both internal and external. Your mind doesn’t seem to be able concentrate. You feel pain when you give in to distraction, when you aren’t able to control yourself, when you are a slave to your phone. You feel pain when you are not living at your maximum potential.
“And he who rules his spirit is better than he who takes a city.” - Proverbs 16:32
It is key to control your mind, your emotions and your attention. Especially when your emotions go against you doing the work you need to do.
You feel pain when you make the same mistakes again. You feel hurt when you stop doing what worked well and pay for it.
You set targets and plans but never seem to stick to them. You have started to lose hope in planning. You feel a lack of urgency until it gets close to the deadline. You feel pain each time you submitted an assignment but you knew it was not your best. If only...if only you had more time is the recurring theme of the degree.
Another thing we have to contend with is good distractions. You have a lot of commitments, these are good distractions and affect you in your studies. What are they? How can you minimise them?
Your friends call you, in pursuit of pleasing everyone you neglect your future.
Are you are continually behind and chasing after lectures to catch up, during the term time?
Do you get side-tracked easily when researching for content online?
Do you find yourself learning to pass exams but truly can’t remember anything after exam season is over? Are you are shaky at best with the fundamental principles of your course? Does this makes you lack confidence as if you were an imposter.
Do you forget plans, make new ones then end up forgetting those?
Have tried to deal with any of the issues in the blog? Where you able to consistently apply what you know to those issues? Have you truly found the solution? Have you put yourself in the environment and under the right pressure to make that to become a reality. Doing this will avoid getting hit hard...
You are getting hit hard by your course and this is affecting your confidence.
Academic pain is real and can hit you hard. To overcome this you need more than a plan. You need a series of systems to help you manage your work, to manage the diverse aspects of your life, systems to manage your mind and improve your speed of accomplishing work tasks. It is not impossible. It is doable, there is hope.
Different points said in this blog may affect you, they show you what you have been through and where you are currently. There is hope and you can dominate your situations and circumstances. Studies shouldn’t push you around. You should push it. Your time is now. Enough is Enough. Let’s do this!
